Peddle Power

Sweeping the Road, Not sure Why

Never Ending

These sewing machines are powered by peddles, no electricity required.

Road Side shave.  John would not stop, this time.
I am sure John would be very excited about a new look.

Behind our hotel we found these small huts with a pressing business.  The irons are filled with hot coals.  No electricity...  I am sure they are happy the temperature is cooler now.
I was told the temperature here get over 40C in the summer, even then the pressing continues in these huts.

The Casablanca Restaurant is part of our hotel. We enjoy soft music from these fellows while we have a great meal.

The Start of my New Blog

I have had so many great adventures and photo opportunities.
After friends have shared their experiences through a blog, I decided I should give it a try.
I am not the greatest writer but my goal to just to share some of the wonderful places I have seen and the people I have met along the way.
In 1975 I graduated from Oilfields High School in Black Diamond.  Many of us started grade one together and have continued to be friends.
I left my hometown of Turner Valley and moved to Calgary where I started my first job, had my first roommate, bought my first car, had my first holiday outside of Canada.  Adventures began as I travelled and meet new friends. Hawaii, Mexico, Caribbean all great holidays with wonderful memories.
In 1981 I married John Mracek and in 1983 we built our first home and started our family, Shawn, Gavin and Derek, who have grown into fine young men.

The first years of travel we did not have digital cameras, so I will post pictures from past when I have scanned them.
John and I had our first big trip to Portugal, but it was only the beginning.
In 2001 John and I, with Gavin and Derek moved to Muscat, Oman. Shawn attended University in Calgary.
Oman is a country of beaches, mountains, desert.  I fell in love with this country in about one hour after I arrived.

While living in Muscat, we travelled to Kenya Africa, and Egypt.  We loved all our visitors who gave us the opportunity to share wonderful Oman.
The Omani families who opened their homes and family life, touched my heart and I will always be greatful to have the chance to learn about this amazing way of life.

Gavin graduated from High School in Muscat and returned to Canada to enjoy the snow and mountains.
In 2003 we moved to Dubai, UAE, a very short but fun 8 months.
In 2004 we moved to Beijing, China.  A country of wonderful culture and people.  I learned enough Mandarin to take a taxi out for the day and get home again.  And, I couple order yummy food in the restaurant.

We had great opportunities to travel throughout China seeing the Great Wall, The Terra Cotta Warriors, many tombs, South China to Guilin, North China to Harbin.

We met our boys in Bali, Indonesia, The Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Jordan.

In 2007 we moved back to Muscat, Oman where Derek graduated from High School and returned to Canada.
It was official we were empty nesters.

In 2008 we moved to Abu Dhabi, UAE, close enough to have many visits to Dubai and Oman.

In 2013 we moved to Gurgaon, India.  I already have wonderful experiences and photos.  Can't wait to share with visitors.
