Delhi Elephant

Twin sisters Jan and Joanne from Canada came to visit India.  Lucky to see Mrs. Elephant

They seemed to think she needed some dusting

She carried her stick
A little more dusting off, she seems delighted

Jan came over to say hi, but Joanne was a little shy with the big Lady

She was ready to take the girls for a ride, but not today
I always enjoy a day in Delhi.  Great to be away from the traffic and see Mrs. Elephant

Dussehra Holiday Jodhpur

Dussehra holiday, victory of the god Rama over the demon king Ravana.

Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur is very colourful, with lots of families coming to worship.

Music and children, a common site

Entrance to the Fort, has music as we enter

There was something special going on in the Fort, but we never found these guys again

Harmonium is wonderful music

Just sweet

John will have a long life

A very wonderful time to tour the Fort.  The Ladies looked beautiful.

Zaanse Shans, Amsterdam

Our BnB Hostess suggested we visit Zaanse Shans to see the Dutch Windmills.  It is a living and working community.
Zaanse Schans derives its name from an earthwork or sconce from the eighty years' war (the Dutch revolt against Spain)
1594 the crankshaft was invented by Cornelis Corneliszoon van Utgeest.   The crankshaft made it possible to convert the horizontal wind direction on the winmill sails into a vertical sawing movement.  The made windmills able to saw more wood, than possible by hand.

The windmills are all working mills, and the perform various functions, including a saw mill, a paint mill (grinding pigments), and oil mill (grinding linseed or peanuts to draw off the oil).

We found Wilma's Boat

Every mill needs an out house

The homes are lived in.  The community is very well kept.

Picnic lunch, fun to share a bit

They new when the bread was all gone

Sheep

Barrows held wine, oil, sardines

Safety wooden shoes

A Shoe was made in about 10 minutes

The village was a nice break from the city.  The rain held off.
